Research Philosophy
Our health is shaped not only by individual genetics and environment, but by complex connections with family, community, and natural ecosystems. At EpiOrbis, we combine large-scale cohort data with omics to epidemiologically unravel these connections.
Theme 01
Precision Health
We integrate large-scale cohort data with genomic, epigenomic, and metabolomic omics information to understand how health states manifest differently across individuals.
Current work includes individual risk assessment using polygenic risk scores (PRS) and development of early intervention approaches using biomarkers.
Theme 02
Family & Perinatal Epidemiology
Through cohort studies of pregnant women, children, and whole families, we explore the mechanisms of health formation across the lifecourse.
We focus on how environmental exposures during pregnancy affect child health, and on within-family health interactions.
Theme 03
Environment, Ecosystems & Health
We use epidemiological approaches to elucidate relationships between natural environments, ecosystems, and human health — including greenspace access and associations between air, water, and soil pollution and health outcomes.
From a planetary health perspective, we aim to build a research framework that integrates ecosystem conservation with human health.
